How to register duns?
Security is important everywhere and always, and developer platforms, which include apple developer users, are no exception. There are several verification processes to increase the security of your developer account, but the most popular and even mandatory is the D-U-N-S number, which will be essential when registering an account for an organization or company.
What is a D-U-N-S number for an apple account developer?
The D-U-N-S number is a nine-digit rotating number that acts as an identifier when interacting with businesses based on their location. Developed and maintained by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B), the D-U-N-S number is very popular in use as a standard business, company, or organization identifier procedure when subscribing to an apple developer account.
Your set of D-U-N-S numbers will be requested later to verify the legal entity status of an apple developer and a user who works for your organization as part of the Apple Developer Program or Apple Developer Enterprise Program enrollment verification process.
Although many types of companies can obtain a D-U-N-S number, in order to accept the legal terms and obligations of the Apple Developer Program agreements, your company must be recognized as a legal entity (for example, a corporation, limited liability partnership, or limited liability company). DBAs, fictitious businesses, trade names and affiliates are not accepted.
Companies and educational institutions must provide a D-U-N-S number registered to their legal entity. The D-U-N-S number is optional for government agencies. If you are registering as an individual, you do not need a D-U-N-S number.
D&B may have already assigned your organization a toll-free D-U-N-S number. Before registering, look up your organization to see if you have a D-U-N-S number. If your company is not listed, you will have the option to submit your information to Dun & Bradstreet for a toll-free D-U-N-S number.
When searching for your organization, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- the name of the legal entity;
- headquarters address;
- mailing address;
- information about your work.
As part of the developer apple account verification process, D&B may contact you directly for additional information (such as your type of business or number of employees). Please prepare documents for registering your business.
Obtaining and managing a D-U-N-S number
After requesting a D-U-N-S number, it may take up to 5 business days to receive a number from D&B. Speeding up the process of creating a D-U-N-S number will not shorten the waiting period. If your application has taken more than two weeks to process, you should contact D&B support.
After receiving your D-U-N-S number, please allow up to 2 business days for Apple to receive information about you from D&B. After this period, you can enroll as a company/organization in the Apple Developer Program.
Thus, the D-U-N-S number is essential for further work and promotion of products on the platform, this is one of the ways to protect the developer account and avoid fraud. If everything is done correctly and no mistakes are made, there will be no problems with this procedure.
